Revising by playing: why it works

A regular quiz checks knowledge; a game anchors it. By replaying the same questions as an arcade game, learners repeat without noticing: they aim, dodge, chain correct answers to beat their score. This playful repetition — the heart of gamification — turns a tedious revision into a challenge people happily replay.

EduTools reuses a quiz you've already created (MCQ and true/false). Nothing to re-enter: pick a game, a speed and a number of lives, and you're done. Learners play from a simple link or QR code, or from a room — on computer, tablet or mobile, with nothing to install.

Five iconic arcade games

Each game takes an arcade classic and puts it to work for revision. Quiz Invaders (Space Invaders style): shoot the right answer. Pac-Quiz (Pac-Man style): eat the right pellet in a maze while dodging ghosts. Snake-Quiz: the snake grows as it heads for the right answer. Whack-a-Mole: whack the mole carrying the right answer. Breakout: bounce the ball to break the right answer's brick.

In every case, grading happens server-side: the correct answers are never revealed to the browser, so there's no cheating. Each game yields an accuracy and a score, recorded per learner.

Frequently asked questions

Which games are available?
Five retro arcade games: Quiz Invaders (Space Invaders-style shooter), Pac-Quiz (Pac-Man-style maze), Snake-Quiz (snake), Whack-a-Mole and Breakout. They all replay the same quiz; you pick the game at creation and can change it anytime.
Do I have to recreate my questions to make a game?
No. A game reuses an existing quiz that contains MCQ or true/false questions. Nothing to re-enter: select the quiz, the game, the speed and the lives, and it's ready.
Can learners cheat by seeing the answers?
No. Grading is done server-side: correct answers are never sent to the browser. The player aims with their knowledge, the server validates every action and recomputes everything at the end of the game.
How do my learners access the game?
Via a direct link or QR code, or from an EduTools room. The game runs in the browser, on computer or mobile, with no installation and no account.
