What is a collaborative wall?

A collaborative wall is an online board where several people add notes — virtual sticky notes — at the same time. Everyone sees the others' contributions appear live. It's the digital equivalent of a workshop's sticky-note wall, only handier.

Running a sticky-note wall

The fastest way to get a group producing, including those who never raise a hand.

Create the wall and ask a question

The wall title IS the prompt. "What worries you about this year" gets answers; "Miscellaneous" gets none.
Organise it in columns

Two or three columns are enough — for example "what works / what blocks / ideas". More than that and people hesitate where to post, which slows everything down.
Share it and let them produce

Link or QR code. Everyone posts notes, can add an image, and sees others appear live. Allow five to seven minutes.
Work through it aloud

This is the step that gives the exercise its value. Group similar notes, comment on what recurs, settle disagreements.

Tips

Allow posting without a name: the most useful remarks come when nobody feels exposed.
Keep the wall: rereading it at the end of term shows the group how far it has come, which no average mark does.
If nothing appears in the first thirty seconds, post the first note yourself. An empty wall intimidates.
